Great Merzouga desert tour

If you visit Morocco, you have to visit the Sahara desert. And if you visit the desert, you have to do it with this amazing family! We had a wonderful experience on a 3-day tour from Fes to Merzouga. We traveled by car with Said, who brought us to the most amazing places on the way, making the experience unforgivable. We also stayed one night in the dunes after a camel trek, and it felt 100% authentic! We will recommend it to everyone!

Amazing 3 days desert tour from Fes

You will visit amazing places with fantastic views and learn a bit more about Moroccan culture and history. For the next 2 nights, we slept in comfortable places (including the desert) and had excellent food.  Mohamed, the tour guide, is funny, so attentive, drives safely and gives us a lot of recommendations.  If you think a 3 days tour from Fes to Merzouga is excessive, think again. You have different views and different contexts for each part of the trip.

Extraordinary 3-day tour with a fantastic guide

The highlight of our trip to Morocco was a nice excursion I've never taken anywhere. Said, our guide, met us at our riad in Fes and drove us about for the following three days. He was really nice and especially good with our adolescent children. The route from Fes to Merzouga was long, but it was well worth it. We rode a camel for over two hours at Erg Chebbi, which left us a little sore, but it was incredibly magical. We stayed at the Ideal Desert Camp, which had wonderful service and provided an unforgettable experience, especially early in the morning in the desert.

During the French protectorate, Ifrane was built as a hill station. The houses, influenced by French culture, were created in the style of French Alpine towns. The plants and trees were also introduced to give the city a European vibe. The word “Ifrane” means “cave” in Tamazight, the native Amazigh language.

The Lion Sculpture is one of Ifrane’s most photographed monuments. A German soldier carved the artwork during World War II. The sculpture is thought to be in memory of the last remaining wild Atlas lion, which was slain near Ifrane.

The Ziz River Valley – Tafilelt

6 days tour from Tangier to Marrakech

Morocco is home to many beautiful palm groves, and our 3 days tour from Fes to Merzouga will take you past Ziz Valley before arriving at the Merzouga dunes.

On our way to Merzouga, we will encounter the Oued (river) Ziz and the Ziz valley, which punctuate the landscape with their brilliant green palms.

The Ziz River flows through Errachidia, Erfoud, and Rissani, creating a vast oasis. The region is known as the Tafilelt, and Moroccans consider it to be the birthplace of the country’s current ruling dynasty, the Alaouites, in the 17th century.

The Tafilelt is especially significant in Moroccan history as the site of Sijilmassa, a city built in the 8th century as a port for the trans-Saharan caravan trade, particularly for the gold that enriched successive Moroccan dynasties.
