5 days motorcycle tour from Merzouga to Zagora Itinerary:
Day 1: Merzouga » Begaa » Saf-Saf » Erfoud
On the first day of our 5 days motorcycle tour from Merzouga, we will explore the Erg Chebbi dunes, drive in Morocco’s great dunes, and enjoy the beautiful Sahara landscape. Visit Khamlia village and listen to Gnawa music. Following that, we will cross the great dunes to Begaa, the last village before the Moroccan-Algerian border. We arrive at the Tisrdmine oasis, followed by Safsaf, where we have a picnic lunch in the shade of the trees. Following that, we will travel to Erfoud, where we will spend the night in a hotel with dinner.
Day 2: Erfoud » Jebal Mdawar » Aferdou » M'harech
After breakfast, we begin the second day of our 5 days motorcycle tour from Merzouga to Zagora by exploring El Borj and the Jbal Mdawar mountain. You travel along a mountain road until you arrive at Afrdou, a mountain that resembles a Moroccan Tajine. Following a brief stop, we will continue on our way to Mharech, passing through the Bourika oasis.
Day 3: M'harech » Maader » Oumjran » Zagora
We depart for Zagora after breakfast, following the Paris-Rally Dakar route through the virgin Sahara desert, visiting old villages and Berber nomads who live in the Sahara, and exploring numerous oasis. Zagora will be our destination for dinner and the night.
Day 4: Zagora » Nkob » Alnif
We drive to Nkob, a Berber village known for its 45 kasbahs, in the morning. We cross the Draa valley and arrive in Nkob for our Berber lunch. After visiting a beautiful kasbah in this famous village, we drive to Tazarine’s palm grove, and then to Alnif, a beautiful track between the two mountains Djbel Saghro and Djbel Ougnat. Alnif, where we will spend the night with dinner in a hotel.
Day 5: Alnif » Rissani » Merzouga
We depart Alnif for Tazoulayt and Rissani, a typical desert town with an interesting local market that takes place three times a week; we will visit the Molay Ali Chrif Mausoleum; and we will explore Rissani’s traditional market. After lunch, we’ll drive to Merzouga, where our 5 days motorcycle tour from Merzouga to Zagora will come to an end.
