On this 3 days private tour from Marrakech to Zagora, our professional drivers will pick you up from your accommodation at 8:00 AM. This memorable trip starts with crossing the Tizi-N-Tichka pass (2’260 m), where you can spot the traditional Berber villages with their inhabitants working and chatting at the roadside. Shortly before Ouarzazate, the desert’s capital, you have the opportunity to visit the famed Kasbah Ait-Ben-Haddou, a fortified clay city with multiple ksars and kasbahs, It’s where Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, and Prince of Persia were filmed.
After lunch, we drive to Zagora, passing via Agdz and down the palm-lined Draa Valley. Before arriving in Zagora, we’ll make a few photo stops and visit the magnificent Kasbah Oulad Othmane.
The Almoravid stronghold’s ruins may still be seen at Zagora, a desert-like village we eventually arrive at after continuing through the Draa Valley. Your first night will be spent in a regionally unique lodging in the middle of a palm oasis.
Day 2 : Zagora » M’Hamid » Erg Chegaga
After breakfast, we wander around the oasis before heading south to Tamegroute, where you will view one of the best-preserved libraries and some of the country’s oldest books and manuscripts (Zawiya). You could also visit a pottery studio where traditional techniques are used to create pottery.
We continue our journey to M’hamid. We’ll go across a plateau that features the massive Chigaga sand dunes, which are dotted with untamed flora and trees. We will ride a camel towards the setting sun before arriving at our nomad tent. Prepare to be wowed by the starry sky, local nomads’ music, and the bonfire. If the conditions are favorable, you can sleep under the stars.
